AMG
CCC/School in Museekee, Thailand
Our team will also be serving in Museekee, Thailand.
In 1988 a young
Indian woman, Zothansiami Ralte, requested AMG to assist her in providing a
boardinghouse for young Karen women. Zothansiami started this hostel to
save these young girls from human trafficking while providing them with an
education and sharing God’s love. Now this hostel, called Museekee,
serves both girls and boys from the Karen tribe in northern Thailand.
Over the last 20
years Zothansiami and her husband have been pouring their lives into the
children attending and living at the Museekee Hostel. While
receiving basic needs like food, clean water, medical care, and education the
children daily hear God’s word taught. In a recent update from
Zothansiami, who is an AMG National Worker, she says this:
“The children at the
center are doing well learning the word of God and our new three girls from the
non-Christian village enjoy singing and learning the word of God and have
better understanding of God’s love. And our children at the hostel who
love God are good witness to them.”
AMG’s
Musekee project operates at Ban Mai Pattana district
about 160 km. north of Chiang Mai city. Ban Mai Pattana is the area where many
Karen tribe villages are located which are surrounded by beautiful pine trees
and hills.
Most of the
children in this project are from the Karen tribe. Many families became
Christian already years ago. The people in the village fully depend on farming
but the harvests are not always sufficient due to droughts. The income is often
not high enough to provide for the family all year long. Only a few families
are able to send their children to school for further study. Most of the
children have to quit school at a very young age. The Musekee childcare center
helps the children that come from the poorest families.
The
sponsorship program in Musekee helps the children through the so needed
education, both physically and spiritually. The future for these children will
hopefully become much brighter.
